System Replacement

Repair or replace?

Nobody wants to hear that their system needs replacing, so we don't start there. We find out what's actually wrong, show you, and tell you what it costs to fix. If a repair makes sense, that's what we'll recommend.

Replacement starts to make sense when the repairs keep coming, when a big part like the compressor or the coil fails on an older system, or when salt air has eaten through the outdoor coil. On the coast, outdoor units take a beating that inland units never see, and they usually wear out sooner because of it.

When it is time, you get real options side by side: the equipment, the efficiency, what's included and what it costs, before anything is ordered. Mostly that's Rheem, which is our go-to, plus Daikin and Goodman. Financing is available if you'd rather spread it out.

★★★★★

“Very pleased with the prompt and professional service. Tommy checked everything and then explained what was needed and why. We had to replace the old unit but his price was way lower than other estimates I had gotten in the past. I would highly recommend Ridgewood ac for all your heating and cooling needs.”

Replacement questions

How do I know if I should repair or replace my AC?

Age, the size of the repair and how often it's broken are the big three. A small repair on a system with years left is worth doing. A compressor or coil failure on an older system, or the third big repair in two summers, usually isn't. We'll give you both numbers so you can decide.

How long do AC systems last near the coast?

Usually less time than inland. Salt air corrodes outdoor coils and connections, so coastal units tend to wear out years sooner. Rinsing the outdoor unit and keeping up with checkups helps it last.

What brands do you install?

Mostly Rheem, which is our go-to, plus Daikin and Goodman. We'll walk you through the options that fit your home.

Do you offer financing on a new system?

Yes, financing is available. Ask about it when we go over your options.

How long does a replacement take?

Most straightforward changeouts are done in a day. We'll tell you up front if your job needs more, like new ductwork or electrical work.
