Ductwork

A good system can't fix bad ducts.

The ducts are the part of the system nobody sees, which is why they get ignored. But a duct that's crushed, disconnected or leaking in a Texas attic is dumping cold air into a space that can hit well over 130 degrees in the summer, and the room it was supposed to cool stays hot.

Common signs: one room that's always warmer than the rest, weak airflow at some vents, a system that runs constantly, dust that comes back right after you clean, or a house that never feels dry. Old flex duct also sags and kinks over the years, which chokes the airflow.

We'll check the ducts, show you what we find, and tell you whether it needs a few repairs, a few new runs or a full replacement. When we put in a new system, we look at the ducts too, so the new equipment gets the airflow it was built for.

★★★★★

“Just bought a house that we knew had an old AC. Thomas is a real professional after dealing with other companies he helped us figure it out with great proposals for options. They are high tech and have a high bar for integrity. Once we decided he got it done the same week in one day of hard work installing the attic and outdoor units with his team. House was cool by 7:30 pm. And a great future seasonal service plan as part of the deal. Confidence and Trust is peace of mind. We totally recommend Ridgewood AC/Heating.”

Ductwork questions

Why is one room always hotter than the rest?

Usually the duct to that room is undersized, crushed, disconnected or just too long. Sometimes it's the room itself, like a west-facing bedroom over the garage. We'll measure the airflow and find out which.

How do I know if my ducts are leaking?

High bills, rooms that won't cool, dusty air and a system that runs nonstop are all signs. In the attic, look for flex duct lying flat on the insulation, torn jackets or connections that have pulled apart.

Should I replace my ducts when I replace my AC?

Not always, but they should be checked. A new system on old, leaky or undersized ducts won't perform the way it should. We'll tell you honestly whether yours are fine.

How long does duct replacement take?

A typical home is usually a day or two depending on the size and how easy the attic is to work in. We'll give you a timeline with the price.
